Outreach

Our Local Missions, the love of God in action...

Hunger Awareness Team (HAT) -- Ed DeMoney and Jane Luxton head up this team. Many participate in several activities that address hunger in our community.

Food for Others - Every first Sunday of each month we donate staples and non-perishable food items to Food For Others, a private charity, which are then distributed to are individuals and families.

Farmer's Market Gleaning  -- Volunteers help gather left-over produce at the Falls Church Farmer's Market on Saturdays during summer months.  The produce is then taken to the Food For Others (FFO) warehouse in Merrifield and unloaded into the large refrigerators on the premises.

Sandwich Sunday -- Periodically the church community gathers to make sandwiches to be distributed through Food For Others to people in need.  The kids at Cherrydale are terrific at making sandwiches!  Cherrydale members are invited to donate bread, bologna, and sliced cheese.

Other Projects -- Children, youth & adults join together for such projects as the Gifts for Life Fair, Vacation Bible School Gifts for Mission, Operation Christmas Child, care packages for soldiers in Iraq, and a pizza sale for Hurricane Katrina relief.

Sponsored Programs:

Arlington Interfaith Council  -- As a member congregation of the Council, Cherrydale makes annual contributions in support of various projects for the community.  Click here to learn more about Arlington Interfaith Council.

Arlington Volunteer Office -- Reaching out to help others in need is a wonderful, continuous activity, and Arlington's Volunteer Office has many opportunities for the young and old (and those in between) to help.  Go to Arlington Volunteer Office to find these opportunities and descriptions of programs.  There's even a special link for Teen Opportunities!

Alcoholics Anonymous --- AA Meetings are held on Tuesday evening at 8:00 and Wednesday evening at 8:30.   Click here to learn more about Alcoholics Anonymous
